Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between a bikini wax and a Brazilian wax?

A Brazilian wax removes all the hair from the pubic region, including the front and back of the vagina. A bikini wax targets the hair that is visible around the bikini line.

There are two main kinds of a Brazilian wax known as the French and Hollywood Brazillian. A bikini wax is perfect for those who want to keep a little bit of hair and clean up the edges, while Brazilian wax is perfect for those who want to remove all hair and have a smooth finish.

We’ll talk you through it if you’re unsure which one you’re after.

Is a bikini wax better than shaving?

Yes, a bikini wax is better than shaving as it results in smoother, longer-lasting results. A bikini wax removes the entire hair follicle, whereas shaving only cuts the hair off at the skin’s surface. Therefore it is more likely to cause ingrown hairs.

How do I prepare for a Waxing Appointment

  1. Your hair must be at least 0.5cm long to ensure the wax can adequately grip the hair.
  2. Exfoliate the area that will be waxed a day or two before your appointment to remove dead skin cells and make removing the hair easier.
  3. Avoid using a moisturiser or lotion on the area before the appointment, making it harder for the wax to grip the hair.
  4. Breathe deeply and relax to help minimise any pain or discomfort during your appointment.
  5. Wear loose and comfortable clothing for your appointment to prevent any irritation afterwards.
  6. Avoid sunbathing, working out, swimming, and saunas for at least 24 hours after the waxing.

Let your therapist know if you have any skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, or recent sunburn, as waxing could aggravate them. It’s also important to let your therapist know if you are on any medications that may increase skin sensitivity or make waxing less effective.

What can I expect from waxing?

We apply warm wax to the area and let it cool and contract. Once it hardens, we peel it off quickly to pull out the hairs.

Does waxing hurt?

Waxing can be uncomfortable, but the pain level varies. Some may experience slight pain, while others may not feel any. The pain should never be unbearable and usually gets better with each session. If you’re feeling uneasy, let your therapist know before your appointment.

We are always gentle and check in to see how you’re doing. If you have concerns, feel free to get in touch.

Do I need to exfoliate before a wax?

Yes, it’s a good idea to exfoliate one to two days before your waxing appointment. Exfoliating helps the wax adhere to the skin better, making the waxing process smoother and more effective.

Can men have waxing?

Yes, we provide waxing services for men for their eyebrows, back, and chest areas only.

How often should I wax?

Waxing is recommended every 4-6 weeks for best results depending on the hair’s strength and area.
